a recent research from nielsen wire revealed, that when grouping twitters u.k. audience by the time they spent on the platform, it shows that only 7 percent of the users account for 80 percent of the total time spent on the platform. the commonly known pareto principle would suggest, that 20 percent of the users account for 80 percent (in general: 80 percent of the activity will be accounted for by 20 percent of the participants).
nielsen wire grouped the u.k. users into following segments:
- light: spending no more than 5 minutes on the site during the month
- medium: spending between 5 and 60 minutes a month
- heavy: spending more than 60 minutes a month
