a recent NGMR (Next Gen Market Research)-survey (n=855) conducted among NGMR LinkedIn group members in november 2009 reveals, that data mining and web analytics are the most widely used analytical techniques among market researchers. the top three techniques market research professionals are not currently using but would like to use are blog mining, social network analysis and screen/web scraping.

interesting (but not surprisingly) to see, that SNA (social network analysis) becomes more important for market researchers in the future: markets are conversations and consist of human beings; human life is essentially social and the building blocks of social life are found in the multiplicity of social groupings. so let’s be content for the moment in stating that social relationships are a key component and social network analysis is a key methodology in order to communicate with your customers in future.
you can download the full survey-report over at the great ngmr-network.
